Sadia Ashraf
Founder & Screenwriter
Sadia Ashraf is a Los Angeles–based screenwriter, director, artist, bestselling novelist, and founder of Rising Tides Films. She produced the animated feature Smart Rabbit Momo (2025), Oscar-longlisted animated film Tomorrow (2024), the multi-award-winning Almost Home (2025), while her previous credits include Senior Moment, starring William Shatner and Jean Smart. Ashraf wrote the feature Unmarriageable being produced by The Traveling Picture Show Company and the biopic The Black Shark for Polaris Pictures, and has developed film and TV projects for Netflix, Apple, Endeavor Content, Lionsgate, and Universal.

Rick Najera
Executive & Screenwriter
Rick Najera is an award-winning screenwriter, producer, actor, director, comedian, playwright, and author with an extensive career in film, television, and theater. As an actor, he has appeared in films alongside Sidney Poitier, George Clooney, and Mario Lopez. A WGA Award–nominated writer, Najera has written dozens of episodes for In Living Color, Townsend, MADtv, and East Los High. His feature Nothing Like the Holidays, starring John Leguizamo earned him an ALMA Award. Najera also starred in and wrote the Broadway hit Latinologues, directed by Cheech Marin, and is the creator and host of Latino Thought Makers,

Jeffery New
Animation Executive
Jeffrey New has contributed to both animated features and television as well as live-action blockbusters. His credits include Star Trek: Lower Decks, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, Watership Down, The Addams Family, Fate of the Furious, and Trolls. He developed a project for Oscar winner Brenda Chapman, and has also produced and written the animated shorts trilogy Time Machine: Fingers, Face, and Feet, which screened in Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver, and at Silver Lake Shorts. He joined Rising Tides Films to lead their animation development portfolio in film and TV.

Shahla Khan
Executive & Producer
Shahla Khan is a producer at Rising Tides from Toronto with twenty years of international film and TV experience. She works at Corus Entertainment, where she manages the rights portfolios of brands like Global TV, Food TV, Nickelodeon, Disney, Hallmark, and HGTV. She also contributes as a Features Film Programmer for the (Canadian-South Asian) Mosaic International Film Festival Film, while working at TIFF and helping to promote South Asian films there like Dukhtar and Donkey Head. Currently, she oversees the slate of TV and film projects at Rising Tides Films.
